PBIS
You may be wondering what PBIS stands for, well let me tell you! PBIS stands for: Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support. So what does that mean? We want to encourage your child in a positive way to be responsible and follow the rules! Check this website out for a more detailed explanation.
In First Grade we use Class Dojo Points. Each parent is able to connect and see their child's points for the day, message with the teacher, and the teacher can share pictures of the child with parents. Throughout the day your child can earn Dojo points for being on task, working hard, helping others, being polite, walking in traveling position, and various other things.
At the end of the day based on how many points your child has earned, he/she will earn a different colored smiley face in the agenda book.
Pink - 6 or more Dojo points
Purple - 4-5 Dojo points
Blue - 2-3 Dojo points
Green - 0-1 Dojo points
Rewards: Green - 1 dove token; Blue - 2 dove tokens; Purple - 3 dove tokens. Pink - 5 dove tokens.
Dove tokens are kept track of in the back of the agenda books. For every 25 dove tokens a child earns, he/she will earn a Behavior Ticket. Behavior Tickets are special activities or opportunities each child can earn. For example, a child may choose the "stinky feet" Behavior Ticket and be allowed to not wear his shoes during the day in our classroom. Another example, a student may choose a "Show Some Love" Behavior Ticket. If this ticket is chosen, I will make a phone call to home to share good news about the student.
Each quarter a school wide incentive will be offered for all students earning at least 100 dove tokens within that quarter. The incentives are as follows:
Quarter 1: Cotton Candy
Quarter 2: Hot Cocoa and Pajamas
Quarter 3: Snow Cones
Quarter 4: Water Day
